Discovering Your True Voice

February 2025.

Beyond the Words of Others: Discovering Your True Voice.

Some of the people I work with have been told things like:
(Skip ahead  to 💬 if you'd rather avoid reading these unkind phrases.)

·      You're the best singer here, but you don't look right.
·      If you can't speak, you can't act.
·      You look great, but can you mime?
·      You haven’t got the face for TV.
·      You’ve got the face for radio.
·      You can’t sing—stop trying.
·      The way you look... it’s a bit frightening to some.

💬 Not only are these words unkind, but they are also myths—statements rooted in ignorance rather than truth. Sadly, they often come from people projecting their own insecurities.

But words stick, don’t they? Even today, when we have the privilege of knowing better, I continue to see the lasting impact of such messages.

The good news? You are not defined by what others have said about you.

I’ve had the honour of witnessing people rediscover their voices—through speech, song, play and even silence. No matter what you’ve been told, it is possible to reconnect with your sound and sense of self.

If any of this resonates with you—if you've ever doubted your voice, your right to express yourself, or if you’d like to explore creative communication in a gentle and compassionate space—please reach out. I offer a free consultation to see how we might work together.
